AuraTV is developed by an independent developer, not by a company collecting data for commercial purposes. This page explains, in plain terms, what the app does with your data.
What we do not do
- No account to create, no profile, no advertising identifier.
- No advertising SDK and no analytics or tracking SDK built into the app.
- No tracking across apps or websites, within the meaning of Apple's App Tracking Transparency.
- No resale or sharing of your data with third parties for commercial purposes.
- No central server of ours stores your IPTV credentials, your viewing history or your favorites.
What stays only on your device
Your favorites, your playback progress ("where I left off"), your channel history, your settings, your saved searches and the cache of your IPTV provider's catalog are stored locally, in the app's storage space on your iPhone, iPad or Apple TV. None of this is sent to a server that we own.
What is mirrored to your iCloud
To bring your favorites and progress to your other devices, AuraTV uses
the iCloud key-value store (NSUbiquitousKeyValueStore), that
is, your personal iCloud account, not a service we
operate. This covers: favorites, playback progress, the result of the
catalog cleanup, saved searches and the caches of AI responses (to avoid
repeating the same calls). If you are not signed in to iCloud, or if
syncing is turned off, everything stays local and the app works the same
way.
Your IPTV credentials
The password for your IPTV provider is stored exclusively in Apple's secure Keychain, never in the app's preferences or in a plain file. It is never sent to a server that we own: the app only uses it to connect directly to your provider's server.
Anonymous statistics
AuraTV sends two anonymous counts, once per device: "a source was added" and "a first playback started". Each one contains only the event name, the platform (iPhone, iPad, Apple TV or Mac) and the app version number. No identifier, no stored IP address, no source name or address, and no viewing history is transmitted or recorded; the country is derived from the connection by our hosting provider when the request is received, and the IP address is not kept. These counts are used only to learn how many installations reach a first playback. You can turn them off at any time in Settings › Privacy › Anonymous statistics; when off, nothing is sent.
What is sent to Anthropic (AI features)
The artificial intelligence features (natural-language search, evening briefing, enriched details, catalog cleanup, "where I left off" resume, sports companion, taste questionnaire, "For you" ranking) work by querying Anthropic's Claude models. What is sent is limited to what the request needs: titles, genres and metadata from your catalog, or the text of your search. No personal identifier (name, email, Apple ID, IPTV credentials) is included in these requests.
Depending on the app version, these requests go either directly to Anthropic's API with a key that you entered yourself (development/test use), or, in the public version, through a relay ("proxy") that we operate on Cloudflare Workers. The relay forwards the request to Anthropic with our key; it does not log your key or the full content of the exchanges.
Three of these features (natural-language search, evening briefing, enriched details) remain usable without a subscription, within a trial limit. To count this limit without asking you for an account, the app sends the relay an anonymous device identifier: a number drawn at random on first launch and kept in your device's keychain. It contains nothing about you or your hardware, it is never linked to your Apple ID, and the relay keeps only an encrypted fingerprint of it, never the number itself. If you are subscribed, a receipt signed by Apple is sent instead, and no device identifier accompanies it.
What the relay keeps
To apply usage limits and track what the AI features cost, the relay keeps a usage counter. This counter never contains the content of an exchange: not the text of your searches, not the titles sent, not the responses.
- If you are subscribed, the counter is attached to the transaction identifier that Apple assigns to your subscription (a number that contains neither your name, nor your email address, nor your Apple ID). It records, month by month: the number of calls per feature and per day, the estimated cost and the volume processed, the date and time of the first call, whether the subscription is in a free trial period, and whether it is a real purchase or a test purchase (Apple's test environment, TestFlight). No device identifier appears in it.
- Without a subscription, the counter is attached to the encrypted fingerprint of the anonymous device identifier described above. It records, for the month, the number of calls per feature, the estimated cost and the volume processed. A total across all non-subscribed users, without any identifier, is also kept day by day.
Each counter is deleted automatically 40 days after its last update. It is used only to apply the limits and track the cost of the service; it is neither shared, nor sold, nor cross-referenced with other data.
Finally, the relay keeps an aggregated, anonymous statistic of calls (feature, access type: free, trial, subscriber or test; platform and app version, country, model and estimated cost), without any device or transaction identifier or content, kept for 3 months.
Erasing your data
In the app: Settings → Storage → "Erase all data". This action immediately deletes, on the device, your favorites, your saved searches, your playback progress, your channel history, the AI caches, the cached catalog, your saved IPTV sources and the matching passwords in the Keychain. If iCloud sync is on, the deletion propagates to your other devices at the next refresh. You can also uninstall the app, which has the same effect on local data.
Subscription and payment
The AuraTV+ subscription is sold and billed exclusively by Apple through your App Store account. We never receive or store your payment details. Apple only passes us what is needed to verify that a subscription is active, whether it is in a trial period and whether it is a test purchase (through a signed StoreKit transaction receipt), in order to unlock the matching AI features.
The content you watch
AuraTV provides no content. The app simply plays the streams of the IPTV provider that you configure yourself, under your sole responsibility. See the terms of use (in French).
